Is seeing, believing? Certainly, that has been the “rule of thumb” through the generations. But, does this same rule apply relative to today’s highly social online environment? In a three words: “No chance Lance!” In three more words: “No way Renee!” Just because someone blogs it, doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s true. Perhaps snippets are and perhaps snippets are not.
What are we doing?
How do we know what to believe anymore? For example, when we see of a dog, cat, or tree in place of that person’s head-shot in Google+, might we assume that we are talking to a domesticated pet or someone’s botanical garden?
I don’t know about you, but I would rather carry on a meaningful conversation (build a relationships) with real live human beings. The eyes are the windows to a person’s soul, therefore meaningful and longstanding relationship are nurtured through time, honesty, humility, vulnerability, transparency, and authenticity. When we do business, we aspire to do business with those who are willing to be themselves first and business professionals second. For beneath every business or business professional lie people and individuals. To be perfect honest, since we are on the subject of honesty, when a dog, cat, or tree follows me on one of the various social media platforms, they can rest assured that I likely deny their request.
The Moral of the Story
If we are doing business, then let us be ALL about doing business. Let’s bring our online profile up to snuff and act like we’re suit and ready to play and win the game!
Well… What about you?
How do you feel about trying to conduct a meaningful conversation with an avatar, a bush, scenery, or somebody’s old Pontiac Firebird? Honestly!
Be smart and be encouraged,
